Scripture:- Mark 3:
Topic:- Unforgivable Sin
Text:- Mark 3:30
While the topic of forgiveness on the last day grips many hearts, the quest to lead a sinless life everyday has become a lifelong desires for most Christians.
There is a believe that all sins will be forgiven because Jesus Christ also made the pronouncement in the Chronicles of Matthew, Mark and Luke. But is this really what the Bible talks about?
Jesus Christ addressed the growing controversy on the subject of an “UNFORGIVABLE SIN” in Mark 3:28-30. “Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin.” For they were saying, ‘He has an unclean spirit.”
This answer goes a long way to address the issue of moralities, murder, crimes, killings, rape, covetousness etc, as since that will be forgiven on the last day only if the person who committed such since asks for God’s forgiveness.
But Christians and non Christians who speaks evil of the Holy Spirit are doomed forever. There is such this as forgiveness for Blasphemy against the Holy spirit.
In Nigeria today, there are people, public figures who have openly come out to speak evil of God’s words and their Prophets, some have even gone the extra mile of making vile statements again the person of The Holy Spirit but STILL, leave in wealth and abundance.
Does this truly mean God is unaware of their riches? Of course not, He is aware. But why has God kept them alive despite this sin?
However, we should be careful that the enigma and controversy over “unforgivable sin” doesn’t keep us from missing the main reality underneath this episode in Mark 3 and Matthew 12.
Jesus Christ main point isn’t that there is such a sin as “blasphemy against the Spirit,” but that there is such a person as the Holy Spirit!
How remarkable that God has not left us to ourselves in the ups and downs of this life. As he did with his own Son in his full humanity, he makes available to us supernatural power by his Spirit.
We are therefore urged to be careful especially when address Christian issues and making statements privately or publicly because God’s spirit dwells inside of us unknowingly to mankind.
Prayer Point:- Oh Lord God, help me not to fall into unforgiving sin, never in my life, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Happy Mid-Week!
