Sunday 24th July 2022 Devotion
Scripture:- Matthew 28:10-20
Topic:- The True Impact Of Our Ministry
Let me share a quick story with you that I think it will give you a real glimpse into the true impact of the Ministry at a very personal level.
Jake made it all the way to his senior year in High School before he had a Bible that spoke to his unique situation of being a teen living in a Military family.
Even though Jake had learned timeless, eternal truths in Bible studies growing up, it didn’t sink in.
But during his last year in High School, Jake was given an I AM Bible from American Bible Society – a Bible designed specifically for Military kids.
For the first time, he learned how to connect the things his family faced with Scripture in a whole new way.
“I’ve never been able to talk about how God interacts with my family, moving, and all that stuff,” Jake said.
The I AM Bible is part of our Hero Squad box for teens and is specifically designed to address the challenges Military teens face due to their parents’ careers.
Between moving every few years or having a parent deployed for years at a time, life can feel unstable for children of Military Service Members in a way other teens don’t understand.
Military teens are more likely to turn to alcohol or drugs than their peers, partly because of this lack of control.
There’s not an easy answer to the unique stresses of being a teen with a Service Member for a parent.
But we know a deeper study of scripture will help children and teens understand the eternal context of those anxieties.
The I AM Bible contains reading plans and devotionals that intentionally address relevant issues only Military teens as Jake face.
These devotionals cover things like the tensions of being proud of a parent while they’re absent or the struggles of building strong relationships when you’re not sure how long you have together.
“It’s cool to have something that speaks just to us, you know?” Jake said.
As a young adult now, Jake knows where to turn when he faces anxiety due to his parents’ work.
That comfort and security are found in the truth of God’s Word.
But there are so many more children in Military families like Jake who also need your support.
With your monthly gift, you will help provide age-appropriate Bibles and other Scripture-based resources such as devotionals throughout the year to thousands of more children in Military families through a new program called Hero Squad.
We have dozens of resources for all ages ready to go, as soon as we can find 350 more donors who are willing to make a monthly commitment of $19.
Will you help get God’s Word into the hands and homes of children and teens like Jake who might otherwise feel forgotten?
Prayer Point:-
Oh Lord God, help me to understand and give helping hands whenever the opportunity comes henceforth by fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.
