Scripture:- Genesis 7:1-24
Topic:- Did Methuselah Died In The Flood
Text:- Genesis 7:1
Many have mistaken the death of Methuselah to have happened during the flood.
They believe that since he wasn’t among those who were aboard Noah’s Ark, it must mean that he was left behind and of course, died in the flood.
However, I must say that this is highly unlikely, Methuselah was a godly man who was raised by godly parents.
I mean his father was Enoch, the great Prophet, the very man God took without death.
So it is highly unlikely that God would leave one of his own to suffer such horrific death.
In fact, some believe that Methuselah may have helped Noah in the construction of the Ark but somehow, he died before the flood.
The Belief that Methuselah died seven days before the flood:
1. We cannot really be certain if this is true but we understand that there is a 80% chance that Methuselah died immediately before the flood.
God gave Noah an instruction that he and his family board the Ark seven days in advance and I am sure you know that this is for several reasons.
2. To complete the final loading of the animals. See Genesis 7:2-9.
3. A final test of faith for Noah and his family and the final boarding to be on the seventh day. See Genesis 7:11-16.
According to history, it has been noted that prominent people are mostly honored in a designated period of mourning after they pass. Just as it is written in Genesis 27:41; 50:4; Deuteronomy 34:8; 2 Samuel 11:27.
Though there are some mourning periods for some prominent people who were not mentioned in the Bible.
In light of this, it has been suggested that the period of seven days mentioned earlier were also a mourning period for Methuselah.
Prayer Point:- Prayer Point:- Oh Lord God, help me to fulfill my days on earth and to do that that befits You henceforth by fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Have A Great Thursday!
