Scripture:- Luke 12:13-23
Topic:- Authority Arrogance
A drug law enforcement officer stopped at a farm near Odeda in Ogun state and talked with an old farmer.
He said to the farmer, “I need to inspect your farm for illegally grown narcotic plants.”
The farmer said, “Okay, but don’t go in that field over there,” as he pointed to an adjoining field.
The narcotics agent, feeling slighted, verbally exploded, saying, “Mister, I have the authority of the Government with me.”
Reaching into his rear trouser pocket, he removed his official ID card and proudly displayed it to the farmer.
“See this ID card?”, he asked naughtily. “This means I am allowed to go wherever I wish, anywhere and on any land. No questions asked or permission needed! Have I made myself clear? Do you understand?”
The old farmer nodded politely, apologized, and went about his chores. The agent proudly sauntered into the field.
A short time later, the old farmer heard a loud scream, looked up, and saw the Narcotics Agent running for his life, chased by a swarm of wild bees.
The officer was clearly terrified, as he ran for dear life.
The old farmer threw down his tools, ran to the fence, and shouted at the top of his lungs, “Stop running and show them your ID card, o!”
LESSON: Lack of humility brings humiliation.
Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”
Learn to be humble. It costs you nothing.
But it saves you from a lot of expensive trouble!
Prayer Point:-
Oh Lord my God, help me to be humble and never to be proud again anymore, in the name of Jesus Christ.
