SUNDAY 15TH APRIL, 2018 MORNING PRAYER DEVOTION
SCRIPTURE READING:- RUTH 1
TOPIC:– YOUR LIFE WILL NOT BECOME MARA
TEXT:- RUTH 1:20
The meaning of Mara in Hebrew dictionary is “sad or sadness”. It is also called “Marah or maw-raw” in Hebrew language, which means bitter; bitterness; angry; bitterly; chafed; discontented; great; heavy.
Mara is so destructive that if it is in the life of its victim, will turn what is sweetened to sorrow and bitterness.
As it entered the household of Elimelech that were full and blessed initially but turned things around, and killed the head of the family who went for greener pasture, killed the only two sons, and the wife who was left empty-handed, now confessed with her mouth that she is no longer Naomi, (which means pleasant), but that she is now Mara, (bitterness). What a loss! See Ruth 1:19-21.
It pays to build a name, the reward doesn’t come quickly but it will come however long it may take and it lasts longer.
Integrity, discipline, self control and fear of God makes a man wealthy, not the fat bank account.
Your life may be Mara now, but never allowed Mara used your life for destruction. With holy anger, silence it completely, for you to enjoy your God-given glory.
Prayer Points:–
1. I command, all the roots of bitterness in my life, whither to the root by fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. I renounce all the evil or bad name that circumstance has given me, in the name of Jesus Christ.
3. O Lord God, turn my bitterness (Mara) to sweetness (Joy), in the name of Jesus Christ.
Happy Lord’s Day!
