TUESDAY 20TH MARCH, 2018 MORNING PRAYER DEVOTION
SCRIPTURE READING:- EPHESIANS 2:1-10
TOPIC:- WORLDLINESS, AN ENMITY WITH GOD
TEXT:- ROMANS 8:7
The Greek word for worldliness/worldly is Kosmikos which means what belongs to the world. It also means those desires of the world which estranged a person from God.
The dictionary meaning of worldliness is someone who relating to this world as contrasted with heaven, spiritual life.
It also means someone who is devoted to, directed toward, or connected with the affairs, interests, or pleasures of this world. Always concerned with material things or matters that are immediately irrelevant.
Worldliness is so destructive to the extent that it will make you to miss heavenly home. The great example was Demas who was one of the followers of Apostle Paul who later deserted him and followed the world. See 2 Timothy 4:10.
Instead of the world copying good things from us (believers), we the believers are the one copying bad things from the world! Very shameful and pathetic! Remember, “friendliness” with the world equals to enmity with God. Beware of the end time vices and change your ways now!
God foresaw these and warned us in 2 Timothy 3:1-7. The Bible also warned us again that we are only in the world but not of the world. See John 17:16. And more also, we are commanded to hate this world. See 1 John 2:14-16.
