Friday 3rd September 2021 Devotion
Scripture:- 1 Corinthians 15:51-57
Topic:- Who Is Afraid Of Death
By Seyi Osuntayo
The cheapest and commonest commodity in the world today is death.
It has no respect for age, gender, or status. It has lost its respect or fear.
Children die as much as adults do. The rich, the influential and the commoners die.
And there exists no difference in the nature of death, and how they are mourned.
Too much to mourn to the extent that information of death is lost at arrival.
The euphoria or awe of losing loved ones are no longer existing.
Condolence messages have become too usual that it has lost its weight.
The fear of death has become a thing of the past. Who is afraid of death?
The issue to me is not about dying, but Who will cry when you die!
Many die without legacy. Many die without impact. Many die without finishing. It is not about the age, but about impact.
Jesus died at 33, and He said “It is finished!”
But many die at “a ripe age”, but they were never ripe for death.
What they said when dying was “I am finished”
The Bible spoke of a woman, named Tabitha called Dorcas, in Greek. She was known for her good works and acts of charity. One significant report was how the people cried at her death.
One lesson in Tabitha’s life was that she inspired us to reframe how we see ourselves and the impact we can have.
Jesus lived 33 years but had an eternal legacy and impact on other people’s lives.
Who is Afraid of death? The real fear should not be about death, but about eternity.
How you will live eternally with God. And How you will live eternally in people’s lives.
Death is sure, eternal life is surer
The choice is yours.
The choice of how you want to live eternally, and what type of eternal life you desire.
In hell or in heaven. In peace or in pieces. In praises or in curses.
The Chinese have a saying, “When we were born, we cry while people laugh.
Live your life so that when you depart, people will cry, while you will laugh.”
Prayer Point:-
Oh Lord God, when the time comes, let me die righteously and end it in You, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Happy Weekend!
