WEDNESDAY 9TH MAY, 2018 MORNING PRAYER DEVOTION
SCRIPTURE READING:- JOHN 11:1-44
TOPIC:- YOU SHALL NOT DIE
TEXT:- PSALM 118:17
Death in Hebrew language is called “muth” which means to die; to kill; slay; bring to death; have one executed. Death is also called “thanatos” in Greek language which means natural or temporal death, Matthew 10:21; 16:28; Luke 2:26.
The scripture present death as unnatural, as something which God did not want to happen, but which is very necessary. God takes no pleasure in it, Ezekiel 18:32.
Death was the result of sin, Genesis 3:3. And holy God must separate Himself from anything which is not in harmony with His character. Therefore, when our first parents sinned, they had to leave paradise. They were no longer permitted to continue eating from the tree of life, living in sin.
Every human being must face physical death, Hebrew 9:27. But Jesus Christ came into this earth to “taste death for everyone,” Hebrew 2:9, so that we would not have to undergo the “second death” being severed from God eternally, Revelation 20:11-15.
In 1John 5:16, talk about sin leading to death, which is a sin which should a believer continue to engage in it, may lead him to premature physical death, Ecclesiastes 7:17; 1Corinthians 11:30.
As spiritual life consists in constant communication with God who is life, so spiritual death is the separation from His blessed influence, i.e. eternal death which is also called second death, Romans 6:21,23; Revelation 20:6,14.
“O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”. I Cor. 15:55-57.
Prayer Points:-
1. Every spirit of death hovering around my life, be paralyzed, in the name of Jesus Christ.

3. I command by the power in the blood of Jesus, everything that is dead in my life spiritually and physically, come alive now by fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Have A Beautiful Mid-Week!
