You Can Walk On The Sea Like Jesus [1]

Wednesday 30th January 2019 Prayer Devotion

Scripture Reading:- Matthew 14:22-32

Topic:- You Can Walked On The Sea Like Jesus [1]

Text:- Matthew 14:25

A. Incidence Before The Passage:

1. Note the word “immediately” in Matthew 14:22, i.e. an incidence happened that made Jesus to send His disciples away in the boat, Jesus fed about 20,000 to 25,000 people. See Matthew 14:13-21.
a. Only men were estimated to be about 5,000.
b. In the Church, women use to double men, therefore, women will be about 7,000 to 10,000.
c. Also in the congregation, children use to double or in some cases, triple men, therefore, children too will be about 10,000 to 15,000.
d. All those total that the people fed by Jesus to be about 20,000 to 25,000.

2. They were all fed and filled, and there still remained 12 full baskets of the fragments of bread and fishes. See Matthew 14:20.
a. It will likely be for the disciples for 12 baskets were mentioned, but we can’t definitely confirmed that and concluded.
b. And it is likely it will be for the boy who gave the initial five (5) loaves and two (2) small fishes that later turned to miracle, we can’t say too. See John 6:9.
c. But one thing is sure and certain, and that is that 12 full baskets of the fragments were left over, who owns it later, we don’t know, for the Bible is silent about it. See John 6:12-13.

3. Many were healed of their sicknesses after teaching and preaching unto them, the Word of God. See Matthew 6:34; Matthew 14:14.
a. Not only that the physical food was given to them alone, but also both spiritual food and healing was dealt with. See 1 Peter 5:7.
b. That is, God is concerned over us in all forms of life. See 3 John 2.
c. All those prompted Jesus to send His disciples away before Him into the boat, and also the multitude. See Matthew 14:22.

4. Jesus wanted to teach His disciples some great lessons which is the main purpose of this teaching.
a. Despite that He is our God, He was teaching us too some great and important things on prayer. See Isaiah 62:6-7.
b. If He can pray, we too must pray too.
c. If His weapon, power and mystery of His being used mightily by God is prayer, then, that must be ours too.
d. If He doesn’t rely on yesterday miracle, anointing and experience through yesterday prayer or fasting, and still went ahead to pray for today or now and other days, then we too must do likewise i.e. fresh anointing or being filled everyday.

5. Jesus also want to have more time alone with His father i.e. He needed privacy.
a. People were likely to love Him now just because of the material food eaten. See John 6:24-26.
b. They are likely to make Him their king who will be supplying them free food. See John 6:24-26.
c. And if that happened, they will divert His attention and purpose from the initial work He came to do. See John 6:22-27.
d. Hence, He went to pray. See Matthew 14:23.

B. How Was It Possible For Jesus To Walk On The Sea?
1. The power of His prayer that He prayed. He spent 34 hours in God’s presence. See Matthew 14:15-25; Luke 18:1; 1 Thessalonians 5:1.
2. Faith in God. See Matthew 14: 31; Hebrew 11:6.
3. The of His word. See Matthew 14: 27-29; John 6:63.
4. His Holy living. See Matthew 14: 26-27; John 9:30-31; Hebrew 4:15.
5. He being the Creator of the sea. See Matthew 14:27; Colossians 1:16.
6. God was with Him doing it through Holy Spirit. See Matthew 14:27; John 16:32; Acts 10:38.
7. Wanting to teach His disciples great lessons which Peter only grasped. See Matthew 14:27-28; John 16:12.

C. How Was It Possible For Peter Too To Walk On The Sea?
1. He acted on the command and word of Jesus that said, ‘Come’ See Matthew 14:28-29; Isaiah 1:19.
2. He was looking on Jesus the Master that told him to come. See Matthew 14:29; Hebrew 12:2.
3. He was utilizing his own faith though little. See Matthew 14:31; Matthew 17:20; Luke 17:6.
4. He had called on Jesus, and even when sinking i.e. prayer. See Matthew 14:26-29; Jeremiah 33:3.
5. He was trying to walk like Jesus and with Jesus. See Matthew 14:29-32; John 13:15-16.

Prayer Points:-
1. I command whatever sea that is standing on my way to success, dried up now by fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. Oh Lord God my Father! Save me, deliver me and help me like Peter of old, in the name of Jesus Christ.
3. I too will walk over my sea henceforth by fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Happy Mid-Week!

ALTAR CALL

If you want to give your life to Christ; you want your sins forgiven; you want to become a child of God; you want to experience the realities of new birth; you want to make heaven;

Or you were once saved and fell along the line, and now you want to rededicate your life to Christ…

Then pray this short prayer of Faith

Say it loud and mean it:

“Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you today. Forgive me my sins, wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me, on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you Jesus for receiving me; thank you Jesus for restoring me; thank you Jesus for saving me.

Thank God for your soul. I congratulate you for the best decision of your life. For further details on how to grow in this new light, please click the CONTACT page or visit TACN or any bible believing church near you and ask for the pastor in charge.
