Topic:- You Are An Overcomer
Text:- Revelation 12:11
A. The Study On A Lamb And Sheep:
1. Sheep are over one year of age. They have usually produced offspring.
2. Lambs are less than one year of age. They have usually not produced offspring.
3. Lamb is also the term for the flesh of a young domestic Sheep eaten as food. The meat from a Sheep that is older than 12 months is called Mutton.
4. The fiber that most Sheep grow is called wool. The wool from one Sheep is called a Fleece.
5. A female Sheep is called a Ewe.
6. The process of giving birth to Lambs is called Lambing.
7. A male Sheep is called a Ram. Buck is the slang term for Ram. A young male is called a Ram Lamb.
8. A castrated male Sheep is called a Wither. Withers are less aggressive than Rams.
9. A group of Sheep is called a Flock. Larger groups of Sheep are called Bands or Mobs.
10. A Shepherd is a person who cares for Sheep.
B. Another Study On Difference Between The Lambs And Sheep:
1. Sheep were one of the first animals to be domesticated, and are still prized today for their abundant supply of wool, milk, and meat.
2. Lambs refer to young sheep that are less than one year old.
3. Rams are un-castrated male sheep aged more than one year. Therefore a lamb is a subcategory of sheep that signifies its young age.
4. Sheep are the general name given to the species ovis aries and Lambs are a subcategory of Sheep denoting young suckling.
5. Lamb meat is more tender and desirable than sheep meat, or mutton. Sheep meat can be classed as Lamb until the Sheep’s first birthday.
6. Sheep feed on grass and legumes whereas Lambs drink a high fat diet consisting of their mother’s milk.
C. Why the study on the lamb and the sheep:
1. Sheep generally are gifted just as much as dog but with a difference, i.e. dog will bark while sheep will be quiet.
2. Sheep are classified in the categories of the obedient, righteous, faithful and heavenly bound, unlike goat who are in the categories of the disobedience, sinners, unfaithful and hell bound. See Matthew 25:31-46.
3. Lambs are tender, gentle, quiet/silence, pure and innocence in character.
4. Lambs are used for daily sacrificed in the temple for purification. See Exodus 29:38-42.
D. Who Then Is This Lamb We Are Focusing On:
1. The Lamb is the Lamb of God who took away the sin of the whole world. See John 1:29.
2. The Lamb is the only begotten son of God. See John 3:16.
3. The Lamb is Jesus Christ, the Saviour of mankind. See Acts 4:12.
4. The Lamb is the sinless Lamb God. See 2 Corinthians 5:21.
5. The Lamb is the perfect High Priest that befits us. See Hebrews 7:25-27.
E. What The Blood In The Old Testament Means:
1. The life of the flesh is in the blood. See Leviticus 17:11, 14.
2. The Passover lamb and its blood point to Jesus Christ and his shed blood. See Exodus 12:7, 11-13; John 1:29, 36.
3. The blood is nobody else blood than the blood that was poured forth from Christ’s body and destroyed Satan. See Isaiah 53:7; Hebrews 2:14.
F. How Jesus Poured His Blood In The New Testament:
1. When He prayed in Gethsemane. See Luke 22:39-46; John 18:6.
2. When He was scourged. See John 19:1; 1 Peter 2:24.
3. When He was crowned with thorns. See John 19:2.
4. When He was nailed on the right hand to the Cross. See Mark 15:22-24.
5. When He was nailed on the left hand to the Cross. See Luke 23:32-34.
6. When He legs were nailed to the Cross. See John 19:17-23.
7. When He was pierced by His side with a spear. See John 19:34.
G. The Greatest Drama In The Grave:
1. In Colossians 2:15, Jesus spoiled and triumph over the devil and his hosts.
2. In Revelation 1:18, Jesus collected the keys of hell and of death, and lives for evermore.
3. In 1 Corinthians 15:54-57, death is conquered for us, and thereby we have victory over devil and death.
H. To Appreciate The Blood Shed:
1. Never you be pompous. In Isaiah 6:5, he said, “Woe unto me.”
2. Never think you are the most holy. In Isaiah 65:5, he says, “Holier than thou,” attitude.
3. Behave like God who bows for the humble. In Psalms 138:6.
4. Then, for you to make it till the end, you must discipline yourself. See 1 Corinthians 9:27.
With the above, you are an overcomer over the devil and his hosts through the shed blood of Jesus Christ!
Prayer Points:-
1. Oh Lord my God! Make me an overcomer indeed, in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. Devil, you are a failure, and you will continue to fail over me and things pertaining to me, in the name of Jesus Christ.
3. Oh Lord my God! Energize me to be an overcomer always, in the name of Jesus Christ.
4. Oh Lord my God! I know You have conquered for me, settle me completely now by fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.
