Topic:- Wisdom Is Good
Text:- Proverbs 9:10
A. Definition of Wisdom:
1. Wisdom is the correct application of Knowledge.
2. To Solomon, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. See Proverbs 9:10.
3. To Job, wisdom is the fear and respect of the Lord. See Job 28:28.
4. To Solomon again, wisdom is a defense. See Ecclesiastes 7:12.
B. General Overview of Wisdom:
1. Wisdom is the principal things in life that every individual supposed to have.
2. We apply wisdom to many things in life, that is, we use wisdom to build, worship, invent, rule, administrate, direct, behave, talk, react, display e.t.c.
C. Types of Wisdom:
1. Godly Wisdom. See 1 Corinthians 1:18-31; 21:1.
2. Earthly Wisdom. See Genesis 3:1-5.
Note: Abigail in 1 Samuel 25:10-11.
3. Sensual Wisdom. See James 3:15.
Note: Ahithophel in 2 Samuel 15:31-37.
4. Satanic/Devilish Wisdom. See Genesis 3:1-5 i.e. Serpent.
D. Facts About Wisdom:
1. Wisdom is not thinking but a divine reasoning. e.g. Abigail and Ahitophel.
2. Wisdom is heavenly community.
3. Godly and earthly wisdom come from the fear of God.
4. Wisdom is making up the right judge, decision, step taking etc.
5. God is the source of both Godly and earthly wisdom.
E. How to acquire both Godly and Earthly Wisdom:
1. Through the fear of God.
2. Don’t discriminate in your relationship with people.
3. Read both Christian and good circular books.
4. Be well rooted in the scriptures e.g. Jesus was tempted by Satan after Jesus’ 40 days fasting and prayer.
5. Be calm and listening when conversating with people.
6. Not giving yourself to too much argument.
7. Don’t be too wise in your own ways.
8. Learn to learn or acquire good knowledge from others. “Omode gbon, Agba gbon la fi da ile Ife.”
F. Benefits of having Wisdom:
1. You will be happy.
2. You will love your own soul.
3. You will have understanding of situation around you.
4. There will not be fear of unknown/future.
5. You will be rightly embedded with knowledge and understanding.
6. You will have proper security.
7. You will have automatic unmerited favour.
Prayer Points:-
1. Oh Lord my God, give me Your wisdom, so as to be favour among all men henceforth, in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. My Father my Father, put Your fear in my heart, so that I will act in Your wisdom henceforth, in the name of Jesus Christ.
3. I command every spirit of foolishness to disappear from me, and the spirit of wisdom to possess me henceforth by fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.
