Who Was Joseph The Foster-Father Of Jesus

Wednesday 9th December 2020 Devotion
Scripture:- Matthew 1:18-25
Topic:- Who Was Joseph The Foster-Father Of Jesus
Text:- Mathew 1:19

Joseph Was A Good Father To Jesus But What Happened To Him And Why Did He Go Missing In The Bible.
Joseph was a good father to Jesus, he protected Him, he was there for Him as a father should.
However, right around the time when the story of Jesus began to become very interesting, the character of Joseph simply vanished from the Bible without a trace and the funny thing is, his name was never spoken of again.
The question this article wants to answer is simple, what happened to Joseph along the life of Jesus?
Why did he simply vanish from the pages of the Bible right after Jesus’ childhood.
Considering that the Bible never mentioned him again, are we to assume that he died before Christ could begin His journey into ministry?
Who was Joseph?
The character of Joseph came into the picture right in the beginning of the new testament, he was the young righteous man the Bible Describes To have been the husband to the chosen woman, Mary.
Currently venerated as a Saint most Christian sect, Saint Joseph is the corporeal father of Jesus Christ.
Both Joseph and Mary have their lineage from the famous biblical King David. According to the details given about his life, Joseph was born in in Circa.
The mentions of Joseph in the Bible are actually really underwhelming, with every information we know about him coming from the Bible and just the Bible.
There is very little that we know about the Forster father of Christ. Paul in all his writings never made mention of Joseph nor did mark.
The character of Joseph appeared in the book of Matthew and that of Luke.
The only other source of information about the life of Joseph can be found in some apocryphal writings such as the second century protoevengelium of James and the fourth-century History of Joseph the Carpenter.
However, the history in these books are actually not what you would call acceptable as some of them present him to be a widower with children when he met Mary and claiming that he lived to the age of 111.
As you can imagine, these claims are unacceptable in the Church today nor do I endorse it.
Now to the question of What actually happened to Joseph.
The bible didn’t really give much details about the life of Joseph as you must have noticed and among the information it didn’t pass across to us is the circumstances surrounding the death of Joseph.
I mean, one minute you are reading the story of Jesus and suddenly, you just notice that His foster father simply disappeared from the scene.
Though many believe Joseph must have died before Jesus even began his ministry and apparently, John implied that he was dead before the Crucifixion in John 19:26-27.
Though there is also a theory that Joseph could have died during the silent years of Jesus.
We know that he was responsible for training Jesus in his trade as a carpenter and we know that both Joseph and Mary had other children after Jesus.
This must mean that he was alive after the events in the temple.

Prayer Point:- Oh Lord God, don’t let my name be erased from the face of earth but let me have a good legacy left behind, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Happy Mid-Week!

If you want to give your life to Christ; you want your sins forgiven; you want to become a child of God; you want to experience the realities of new birth; you want to make heaven;

Or you were once saved and fell along the line, and now you want to rededicate your life to Christ…

Then pray this short prayer of Faith

Say it loud and mean it:

“Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you today. Forgive me my sins, wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me, on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you Jesus for receiving me; thank you Jesus for restoring me; thank you Jesus for saving me.

Thank God for your soul. I congratulate you for the best decision of your life. For further details on how to grow in this new light, please click the CONTACT page or visit TACN or any bible believing church near you and ask for the pastor in charge.
