Who Is Melchizedek [3]

Wednesday 28th October 2020 Devotion
Scripture:- Genesis 14:1-24
Topic:- Who Is Melchizedek [3]
Text:- Psalm 110:4

  1. Where Does He Execute The Priesthood:
Melchizedek executes the Priesthood in heaven. He is a Priest of the Most High God who is in heaven and still executes that Priesthood unto this day.
Hebrews 7:4 says ‘He abides a Priest continually’. He is still a Priest executing the Priesthood in heaven unto this day.
  2. Made After The Order Of The Son Of God:
In Hebrews 7:3, it was said that he was but made like unto the Son of God. This point is very key in helping us identify who Melchizedek is as it gives us a pointer.
Of everything mentioned about him, this one directly tells us Melchizedek is made like unto the Son of God.
This clearly interprets that Melchizedek is putting on the office of the Son of God or that he is made ‘the Son of God’ just as Christ is the Son of God.
There are no two Sons of God in heaven, just one.
If Melchizedek is made in the order of the Son of God, that is to tell us, he is the Son of God.
In the Old Testament, there was no mention of the Son of God making an appearance except in the book of Daniel 3:25 where Nebuchadnezzar said he saw four men walking in the fire when it was actually three that were thrown into the fire.
According to him, the fourth person he saw was like the Son of God. These are all signs to let us know before Christ was born into the earth through the womb of virgin Mary, he appeared on the earth on several occasions.
Apart from the fiery furnace incident, Christ also appeared to Abraham in the form of a man.
He came with two men but when Abraham saw them, he recognized his God because he had seen him and paid tithe earlier to him. See Genesis 18:1-3.
Abraham saw three men but recognized his Lord among the three of them. It was because he had seen him as Melchizedek earlier. It wasn’t difficult for him to discern who he was.
Melchizedek’s priesthood is an unchangeable one and one which lasts forever, for all eternity. Studying Hebrews 7 makes us understand his Priesthood is unchangeable meaning, no one can replace him.
The Priesthood had been established before even the world began. Christ was there all along as Melchizedek.
When he came to earth through the virgin birth, he died, rose and was lifted up to the right hand of the father to continue that priesthood.
There are no two priests in heaven, namely Lord Jesus Christ and Melchizedek. There is only one High Priest, Jesus Christ who through the office of the Son of God, makes intercession for the saints. He is still in the office of that Priesthood of Melchizedek as He always was.
  3. Melchizedek Is The Lord Jesus Christ And The Very God Of Heaven:
It shouldn’t be very difficult to believe and understand that the very God who created the heavens and the earth has manifested himself in various ways to humanity.
He created man, and in His bid to help man out of the mess man got himself when he fell, God has dealt with man in many ways.
The same way He appeared to Abraham as a man in Genesis 18 was the same way He appeared in Genesis 14 as Melchizedek.
It takes Him nothing to make a body, enter into the body to use for a specific purpose. He appeared several ways to the Prophets of old, in the old testament.
Maybe some saw Him as a whirlwind, others as a wheel in a wheel, but Abraham met Him physically twice.
Once like a man in the plains of Mamre and another as Melchizedek. He chooses to appear the way He wants.
You can’t cage God and say He must appear to you in a certain way.
  4. Melchizedek Is The Son Of God Jesus Christ:
It should be clear that Melchizedek is the Son of God Jesus Christ, the very God of heaven as Revelation 1:6 tells us.
Christ made His saints Kings and Priests unto His God. This is because, He who is also Melchizedek (already confirmed as a Priest unto the most high God, king of peace and king of righteousness) is Himself the High Priest and the King.
He has finally made us like unto himself. This should give children of God great joy and consolation, to be like Christ.

Prayer Point:- Oh Lord God, help me to live in peace and righteousness always henceforth by fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Happy Mid-Week!

ALTAR CALL

If you want to give your life to Christ; you want your sins forgiven; you want to become a child of God; you want to experience the realities of new birth; you want to make heaven;

Or you were once saved and fell along the line, and now you want to rededicate your life to Christ…

Then pray this short prayer of Faith

Say it loud and mean it:

“Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you today. Forgive me my sins, wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me, on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you Jesus for receiving me; thank you Jesus for restoring me; thank you Jesus for saving me.

Thank God for your soul. I congratulate you for the best decision of your life. For further details on how to grow in this new light, please click the CONTACT page or visit TACN or any bible believing church near you and ask for the pastor in charge.
