WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN PHILISTINE?

MONDAY 16TH APRIL, 2018 MORNING PRAYER DEVOTION

SCRIPTURE READING:- 1 SAMUEL 4

TOPIC:- WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN PHILISTINE?

TEXT:- GENESIS 21:34

In Hebrew language, Philistine means “wanderers”. a philistine is a smug and ignorant and indifferent or hostile to artistic and cultural values; is an anti-intellectual, (nonintellectual); uncultured, ignorant; crass; tasteless; bourgeois; uneducated; boorish; undefined; uncultivated; lowbrow; an unrefined; rude person; lacking in delicacy or refinement; barbarian; churlish, coarse; crass; crude; gross; ill-bred; indelicate; rough; tasteless; uncivilized; uncouth; uncultivated; unpolished, unrefined vulgar. They were people who were the enemies of the Israelites in their settlement of the Promised Land in the Old Testament. See 1 Samuel 4.

Strategically located on a trade route from Egypt to Syria, the cities of Philistia formed a loose confederacy important in Biblical times, and the Bible depicts the Philistines as engaged in a struggle with the tribes of Israel for ascendancy in the region. The mighty Israelite warrior Samson, for example, fought with the philistines on several occasions and was betrayed by his Philistine lover, Delilah. During the 1600s, as a result of the negative depiction of the Philistines in the Bible, the word Philistine came to be applied figuratively to anyone considered an enemy. (The Philistines be upon thee, Samson)! The words of Delilah to Samson after she attempted to render him powerless before the Philistines.

Our journey together down here is really short and cannot be reversed. No one knows the duration of his/her journey. Even Methuselah, the longest lived man got to his bus stop and alighted from the bus.
The journey is so short, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, or 150 years all start with one day. We surely know how many years we have spent, but do you know how many more you have to spend? 1, 5, 10, 15, 20 or 99 yr(s), months, weeks or days, hours, minutes or seconds. The journey is so short.

Prayer Points:
1. I command all you unrepentant enemies after my life, receive fire blow from above to herald my total victory, in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. I command all the sources of the power of my enemies and adversaries, fail, in the name of Jesus Christ.
3. All my fortune, glory, goodness, promotion, entitlement in the camp of the enemies, turn to ark of God and trouble them, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Have A Loving Monday!

ALTAR CALL

If you want to give your life to Christ; you want your sins forgiven; you want to become a child of God; you want to experience the realities of new birth; you want to make heaven;

Or you were once saved and fell along the line, and now you want to rededicate your life to Christ…

Then pray this short prayer of Faith

Say it loud and mean it:

“Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you today. Forgive me my sins, wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me, on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you Jesus for receiving me; thank you Jesus for restoring me; thank you Jesus for saving me.

Thank God for your soul. I congratulate you for the best decision of your life. For further details on how to grow in this new light, please click the CONTACT page or visit TACN or any bible believing church near you and ask for the pastor in charge.
