Wednesday 28th November 2018 Morning Prayer Devotion
Scripture Reading:- James 3:1-12
Topic:- Understanding Your Nearest Enemies
Text:- Proverbs 16:7
It is true that once you are born into the world you start having enemies either known or unknown ones. Not to talk of when you continue to grow and start doing something good in life, the enemies keep increasing. Thank God, that God is saving us from them all.
We need to think deeply and see that those we consider as enemies are not the real greatest enemies nearest to us. So, in today’s topic, we will be discussing the greatest and nearest enemies to us as follows:
1. The eyes is the first enemy so near to us for with it we see evil things and swallow hook and line, thereby we fall into sin. See Example in Genesis 3:6 with Eve that later led to man’s sinfulness.
2. The heart, mind and thought is another enemy that is near to us. For with our thought evil is first executed. See Matthew 15:19-20. See Example of Jesus and devil, the tempter in Matthw 4:2-10.
3. Tongue and mouth is another enemy nearest to us. With it we say all sort of evil things unless we can control our tongue. See Romans 3:14; James 3:2,6. For example, some children died because they were unable to control their tongue in II Kings 2:23-25.
4. Some family members are devilish to the extent they terminate the lives of the progressing ones in the family. See Matthew 10:36. They too are enemies nearest to us.
5. And lastly, the devil is the greatest and nearest enemy to us, even the chief enemy of our soul and salvation. See Matthew 4:1,11.
Prayer Points:-
1. Oh God, I thank You for removing the veil from me about the nearest enemies, and forgive my ignorance of choosing wrong enemy, in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. Oh God, deliver me from sinning, and give me total victory over sin, flesh and devil, in the name of Jesus Christ.
3. I command everything in me that will make me to lose focus of heaven, die, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Happy Mid-Week!
