SUNDAY 10TH JUNE 2018 MORNING PRAYER DEVOTION
SCRIPTURE READING:- JOB 1-2
TOPIC:- THERE IS A REASON FOR IT
TEXT:- JOB 13:3
Whatsoever position you find yourself in life, either pleasant or unpleasant, I am happy to tell you that there is a reason for it. The Spirit of God had convinced me to believe that no matter the situation you are going through, God designed it for a reason. Yours is to wait on Him and let Him convince you beyond reasonable doubt because He has a reason for allowing that moment in your life.
The story of Job is a good example to buttress this point. In fact, in Job’s case, it was God who voluntarily permitted Satan to go ahead and deal with Job by any means, however, he was cautioned not to tamper with Job’s soul i.e. not to destroy and kill Job, Job remained faithful to God without failing. And behold at the end, Job still maintained his integrity with God after which God turned his fortune and life around and he was blessed in double fold more than his early life.
As we see in Job’s situation, there was a reason why God allowed all those evils to befall him, but the end justifies the means. See Job chapter 1,2 and 42.
The story of the man born blind in the Gospel according to Saint John Chapter 9 is another evidence that shows clearly that there is a reason for him being born blind. In verse 3, it was emphatically mentioned by Jesus Himself “but that the works of God should be made manifest in him”.
The topic today will be incomplete if we fail to mention the story of Paul who went to Macedonia through the directive of the Lord in a vision. If it had not been the Holy Spirit who directed Paul, he would have doubted his missionary work to that city, because he received the highest and worse shame, beaten and disgraced, even to the point of being jailed. Just because he obeyed the Lord and preached the Gospel of Christ in which many people were converted to the Lord.
Because there was a reason for it, which later manifested at the end i.e. Lydia got saved; a demonic possessed girl was delivered; great earthquake freed people from prison; the warder and his household were saved and Paul also departed the city with great respect and honour. See Act 16:1-40.
What else can be said than to keep fit in God. Because whatever you are passing through, God has a reason for permitting it and you are coming out gloriously in Jesus name. Romans 8:37 says that in all these things, we are more than conqueror because Jesus loves us. I therefore declare you a conqueror and victor and not a victim in Jesus name.
Prayer Points:-
1. Satan! I command you to pack-off your load and get out of my life and properties now by fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. I know that today’s sorrow, pain and problem is for my coming joy, peace and promotion, in the name of Jesus Christ.
3. Lord my God, hold me tight so I might not backslide or fall away from you, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Happy Lord’s Day!
