TUESDAY 19TH JUNE 2018 MORNING PRAYER DEVOTION
SCRIPTURE READING: JOB 42:10-17
TOPIC:– THE RESTORATION WE NEED
TEXT:– JOEL 2:25
1. What Is Restoration?
In Hebrew language, it is literally interpreted as “SHALAM” which means to be whole; sound and save; to make secure; to be peaceful; to live in harmony. Principal meaning of SHALAM is restored in completion and fulfillment of a desirable state of wholeness in which relationships are restored.
It also means to bring back into existence or use. To bring back to original condition; to put someone back in a former position. To make restitution or give back what was taken; it is an act of restoration, renewal, revival or re-establishment.
2. Biblical Restoration:
It means to return all things to their previous state, pure state. It is an act of restoring something or someone to a satisfactory state. Ancient Hebrew legal definition of restoration was not to only repay what was lost, but also to make it better than before. Biblical example is Job who received more than he had after his trial, Job 42:10-17.
3. Types Of Restoration We Needed:
a. The restoration of prayer. See Mark 9:28-29.
b. The restoration of repentance and serving God in Spirit, truth and holiness. See John 4:21; Hebrew 12:14.
c. Wonderful testimonies of God’s doings in our midst like that of old. See Acts 8:6-7.
d. We need restoration of expectancy of the second coming of Christ so as to go with Him. See Matthew 7:21-23.
4. How To Get Biblical Restoration [Ezekiel 37:1-14]:
a. Joel 2:25a says “And ‘I’ will restore”. This means that it is only God that can do it, and not any man or idol or juju. Hand of the Lord, Ezekiel 37:1. He said unto me, Ezekiel 37:3. Oh Lord God thou knowest. Meaning all glory must be to God alone. See IsaIsaiah 42:8; 48:11.
b. The hand of the Lord upon Ezekiel carried him and directed him to the valley of dry bones, Ezekiel 37:2. We too must see God’s hand on us.
c. Passion for those in need for their needs to be met, Ezekiel 37:3,6,9.
d. Your word for restoration must be authoritative i.e. He instructed Ezekiel to prophecy, Ezekiel 37:7,10.
e. Wait on God to do the restoration i.e. don’t be led by your own spirit or self but by God in prayer and fasting, Ezekiel 37:8,11-14. See example is Elijah in James 5:17-18.
