SUNDAY 18TH MARCH, 2018 MORNING PRAYER DEVOTION
SCRIPTURE READING:- ACTS 5:1-11
TOPIC:- STOP BEING UNFAITHFUL
TEXT:- PROVERBS 25:19
To be unfaithful in Hebrew language means to act covertly or fraudulently. It also mean to cheat, betray, to oppress, to afflict and to spoil, and to deal treacherously.
Allowing unfaithfulness in our lives, marriages, homes and even in our places of work/businesses, it can destroy all what we labored for over the years in just a day. God forbid!
Ananias and Saphira are good examples of unfaithfulness. See acts 5:1-11. A godly couple who never ended well and thereby ended with untimely death. They also lost both their properties, and money, and even their rewards for service to the lord just because of this unfaithfulness.
It is easy for us to condemn Ananias and Sapphira for their dishonesty, but we need to examine our own lives to see if our profession is backed up by our practice. Do we really mean everything we pray about in public? Do we sing the Hymns and Gospel songs sincerely or routinely? “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me,” Matthew 15:8 NIV.
If God killed “religious deceivers” today, how many church members would be left? Unfaithfulness can make a man turn against his wife and even the children, thereby making the home unbearable. A woman in her house can do likewise and her home thus making the marital covenant and vow to be broken.
Unfaithfulness destroyed a family of a man of God, and the repercussion of what the family did made them to be rejected by God. The children and their father died painfully, while the grandson was born prematurely and named wrongly. I am talking about Eli and his family. See 1 Samuel 2:27-36; 3:10-14; 4:12-22.
Beloved, stop being unfaithful. Be faithful to yourself, to your spouse, to your family, to your boss, to your neighbor, and most importantly, to your Lord God!
Prayer Points:-
1. O Lord God, forgive me of past unfaithfulness and have mercy on me, in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. I command every spirit of covetousness and unfaithfulness in me, come out by fire, and never operates again.
3. O Lord God, give me grace to be faithful in all circumstance, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Happy Lord’s Day!
