Monday 20th August 2018 Morning Prayer Devotion
Scripture Reading:- Matthew 11:1-19
Topic:- Starting Well And Ending Woefully [2]
Text:- Matthew 20:16
Thirdly, he was the fore-runner of Christ i.e. the one to prepare the way for the Savior of the world. See Matt. 3:10-11.
Fourthly, he lived an ascetic life i.e. holy and self disciplined life. See Mark 1:6.
Fifthly, he was a man of truth and without compromising his faith in God i.e. bold, truthful and fearless. See Luke 3:7-20.
Sixthly, he lived a celibate life i.e. failed to marry, but concentrated on his God-given mission. See Matt. 19:10-12.
And seventh, he marked the end of the Old Testament Prophets and Law Teachers. See Matthew 11:13.
But unfortunately and at last, almost before he died, he stumbled and was declared the least in God’s kingdom by Christ Himself. See Matt. 11:6, 11.
1. Remember that this same John had once declared who Jesus was, John 1:29.
2. A cousin and fore-runner of Jesus, Luke 1:39-56. He later doubted who Jesus was because of the problems or persecution he faced Matthew 11:2,3.
To conclude this message, we are not trying to undermine John the Baptist, neither are we claiming to be more perfect than him, but we want us to learn a great lesson from John the Baptist who began well but ended woefully. Remember and put it in your heart, and pray very well, not everybody can manage success. See Matt. 20:16.
So that you will not be like that but end it successfully, even in heavenly kingdom reigning with Christ, learn from John The Baptist, 1 Corinthians 10:12.
Prayers Points:-
1. It is not my portion in the name of Jesus that I should fall and not make it, never in my life, in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. I command, any path that I am treading that will let me end woefully, I refuse to go ahead anymore, in the name of Jesus Christ.
3. Holy Ghost! Give me victory in all my ways, to make it and be successful in life and never to end it woefully, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Have A Beautiful Monday!
