Scripture:- Numbers 20:1-12
Topic:- Reasons Why Moses Couldn’t Enter The Promised Land
Text:- Exodus 4:10
Did you know the reasons why Moses couldn’t enter the promised land?
For those of us who takes delight in reading the Bible, we must have been convinced that the grace and favors upon Moses was great. That is true.
However, the fact that God had to contend with Moses’ lack of foresight and anger had almost resulted to his death and finally cost him the ultimate goal of entering the promised land with the Israelite.
Did you know that Moses lost the opportunity of a miracle? How?
After God had assuaged his fears of the Israelite not believing that he (Moses) was truly sent by God through some questions and answers – to performing a couple of miracles, Moses in his quest to wriggle out of the task of freeing the Israelite from the bondage of the Egyptians still argued. See Exodus 4:10.
Well, to think that Moses could have used the unique opportunity of being chosen by God to perform that historic task of leading God’s chosen race to freedom, through asking God for the miracle of correcting his speech impairment (stammering)! See Exodus 4:11-12.
But Moses was not done with his excuse. By this latest display of unwillingness, God became upset. Of course you can see how Moses demystified himself through bringing a go between, outside God’s original plan. See Exodus 4:13-16.
Thank God for spiritual foresight! Zipporah was the daughter of Jethro, Prince of Median – a man of God, in whose house Moses had stayed as a fugitive after running away from Egypt. See Exodus 4:24-25.
Then, the last straw! What prevented him from entering the promised land.
The Israelite once again displayed their cantankerous behavior at the desert of Zin when they became thirsty and no water to drink. Hence they quarreled with Moses. See Numbers 20:3-12.
His appeal not accepted. Hear Moses in Deuteronomy 3:25-27.
May God grant us all the grace not to be found wanting when the roll call is made.
Prayer Point:- Oh Lord God, grant me the grace not to be found wanting when the roll call is made at Your judgement in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Have A Wonderful Monday!
