Scripture:- Deuteronomy 34:1-12
Topic:- Reason Why God Buried Moses By Himself
Text:- Deuteronomy 34:6
The only reason God buried Moses by Himself without anyone knowing his grave.
Moses in the Bible happens to be one of the greatest men who ever lived on earth. His life and commitment to God remains unprecedented and monumental.
He was a man who feared God greatly and lived his life for others. There were many Prophets in the Bible, nevertheless, Moses stood out in a most unique way.
Because of Pharaoh’s decree to have all children from age two and below slaughtered, as a little boy when he was born, his mother hid him in a basket and sailed him alone on the river under the watch of his sister Miriam.
He ended up being raised in the house of Pharaoh. Now, although Moses was raised in Pharaoh’s palace and enjoyed all the glories that accompanied it, he knew his purpose was to deliver his people the Israelite who were in bondage in Egypt.
After 40 years on exile on account of killing an Egyptian, Moses encountered God Almighty – the Great I AM THAT I AM, and he returned to Egypt to confront Pharaoh and deliver the children of Israel from bondage.
Consequently, the battle line was drawn between Moses and Pharaoh. Diverse confrontations ensued and God began to deal terribly with Pharaoh and the Egyptians by performing many great signs and wonders through the hand of Moses.
One of such manifestations was the turning of Moses rod into snake and it swallowed that of the magicians who imitated the same miracle.
Other miraculous manifestations and plagues include turning of River Nile into blood (including all the water in Egypt), the massive invasion of frogs, lice, flies, livestock pestilence, affliction of boils, hail, locusts, darkness and the killing of the firstborn sons in Egypt.
More great miracles included the dividing of the red sea as the children of Israel passed on dry land, water coming out from the rock, manna and quails falling down from heaven to feed the Israelite for 40 years!
Countless miracles were performed through the hands of Moses. At a time, when he came down from the mountain after spending some time with God, Moses face shone so brightly that the Israelite could not even look at his face until it was covered with a Veil!
Obviously, Moses was like a living god on earth! When Moses died at the age of 120 years, even his eyesight was still intact and his strength had not diminished.
However, the most striking thing about Moses’ death was that God buried him by Himself and up to this day, no one knows where Moses’ grave is. See Deuteronomy 34:5-7.
Apparently, the only reason God could have buried Moses were no one knew is because He did not want the Israelite to idolize and worship him, thereby committing the sin of Idolatry.
They probably would have made a graven image there to worship him at his grave.
This could have been very much expected going by the fact that Moses lived an extraordinary life!
Prayer Point:- Oh Lord God, break me, remold me and uses me for Your divine purpose for my life henceforth by fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Have A Nice Tuesday!
