Let Jesus Be Your Val

Saturday 2nd November 2019 Prayer Devotion

Scripture Reading:- 1 Corinthians 13

Topic:- Let Jesus Be Your Val

Text:- John 15:13

Today’s exhortation is on what people call, “valentine’s day.” What is Valentine’s Day? Valentine’s Day is an annual festival to celebrate love, friendship and admiration.
Every year on 14 February people celebrate this day by sending messages of love and affection to partners, family and friends. Couples send Valentine’s day cards and flowers and spend special time together to honour their love for each other.
Valentine’s Day is named after Saint Valentine, a Catholic Priest who lived in Rome in the 3rd Century. At the time of Valentine’s life, many Romans were converting to Christianity.
During that time, Emperor Claudius was a pagan and created strict laws about what Christians were allowed to do. Claudius believed that Roman Soldiers should be completely devoted to Rome and therefore passed a law preventing them from marrying.
St Valentine began to marry these Soldiers in secret Christian ceremonies and this was the beginning of his reputation for believing in the importance of love.
Eventually Valentine was found out and jailed for his crimes against Claudius. While imprisoned, Valentine cared for his fellow prisoners and also his Jailor’s blind daughter.
Legend has it that Valentine cured the girl’s blindness, and that his final act before being executed was to write her a love message signed, “From your Valentine.” Valentine was executed on 14 February in the year 270.

It wasn’t until more than 200 years later that 14 February was proclaimed St Valentine’s day. By this time Rome had become Christian and the Catholic Church was determined to stamp out any remaining paganism. A pagan fertility ritual was held in February each year, and the Pope abolished this festival and proclaimed 14 February Saint Valentine’s Day. Thus establishing this feast day on the Catholic calendar of saints.
Why is today’s topic centered on Valentine and who is your Val? There is somebody, whose love is greater, than that of Valentine. The person is, “Jesus Christ.” His own love started from God Himself who later gave Him [Jesus] for us to die for our sins. See John 3:16.
Is this same Jesus, who went to the cross to die, even for the discussed Valentine and the whole world, among whom you are. A man that has no sin, yet died to save mankind from going to hell with the devil, and redeem us back to God. See John 15:13.
Who then supposed to be your Val or Valentine, if not Jesus? Please, make Jesus your lover by inviting Him into your life to be your Lord and Savior. As you do this, you will surely be well with you! See Revelation 3:20.

ALTAR CALL

If you want to give your life to Christ; you want your sins forgiven; you want to become a child of God; you want to experience the realities of new birth; you want to make heaven;

Or you were once saved and fell along the line, and now you want to rededicate your life to Christ…

Then pray this short prayer of Faith

Say it loud and mean it:

“Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you today. Forgive me my sins, wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me, on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you Jesus for receiving me; thank you Jesus for restoring me; thank you Jesus for saving me.

Thank God for your soul. I congratulate you for the best decision of your life. For further details on how to grow in this new light, please click the CONTACT page or visit TACN or any bible believing church near you and ask for the pastor in charge.
