WEDNESDAY 14TH MARCH, 2018 MORNING PRAYER DEVOTION
SCRIPTURE:- MATTHEW 5:21-26
TOPIC:– KILL THAT ANGER BEFORE IT KILLS YOU
TEXT:- EPHESIANS 4:25
Greek language calls anger “orge” which means desire as a reaching forth or excitement of the mind. It is also a violent passion, and a justifiable abhorrence punishment.
Anger is an emotional feeling that comes upon us when others, things and situations don’t fit into our expectations of them. It expresses itself openly in rage, shouting, throwing of things, fighting, assault, murder, destruction of properties etc. Sometimes you will be silently in frustration, resentment, bitterness, hatred, hostility, depression.
Funny enough, this anger is the only permit able sin in the entire bible but with a caution or condition. Not to sin even at all if you are angry, and that is by not giving chance or place for the devil to take control of your anger. And by not letting the sun go down upon your wrath, which is also called anger. You don’t sleep with your anger without settlement. See Ephesians 4:26-27.
As human beings, it is impossible for one not to be angry over one thing or the other, but one has to be cautious about it, and try to do away with the anger which is the key of not sinning when you are angry. See Ephesians 4:31.
Therefore, if anger is not cautioned, it can destroy in a minute what you have labored for in your entire life. You will agree with me that it takes longer time to build than to destroy. And that is what anger can do if not checked or cautioned, or destroyed in your life.
The worst of it is that anger definitely can lead one to kill or murder, thus leading its victim to hell. See revelation 21:8.
One fact remains true in all people, and that is, the feeling of anger intrinsically part of us. Just as we are made with all other emotions like joy, fear, pain, so are we made with anger. So, anger must die in your life. See Colossians 3:5-8.
Prayer points:-
1. I silence you spirit of anger, come out of my life by fire.
2. O lord god, repair and make good all things that anger has destroyed in my life.
3. O lord god, from now henceforth, renew your right spirit within me.
