Topic:- How Women Started Wearing Trousers
Text:- Deuteronomy 22:5
There have been numerous arguments on women wearing trousers, some belief is not right that trousers are meant for men, while others believe it right for a woman to wear whatever she wishes to wear that trousers are meant for both males and females.
As the writer of this article am trying to say if it’s right or not right for women to wear trousers, so I did my research and found out, how women started wearing trousers, you will be surprised by what I found out about women wearing trousers. How women started wearing trousers.
Since we Nigerians usually copy the way if life and almost everything from either the British and USA, “why not” the British colonized the Federal Republic of Nigeria but we shouldn’t forget we still have customs and traditions.
According to Wikipedia During World War II that was fought by the USA soldiers, women working in industrial work in war service wore their husbands’ trousers, since we’re far from home fighting.
And in the post-war era, trousers were still common casual wear for women because during that time they were sports activities like the Olympics, cycling, gardening, socializing, and other leisure pursuits, so women started wearing from that time.
Similarly, to the British which was one of the countries with the oldest civilization. Still don’t allow women to wear trousers not until, Second World War, because of the rationing of clothing and the clothes wasn’t enough for the women, so most of them took to wearing their husbands’ civilian clothes to work while their husbands were away in the armed forces fighting for the country.
The main reason they even started wearing it, was that it was seen as a work garment, and partly to allow women to keep their clothing allowance for other uses.
So before now, women don’t actually wear trousers for fashion but to do so in other to work and enable them to feel comfortable while performing some activities that won’t be possible with skirts and gowns.
