Scripture:- John 15:1-11
Topic:- How To Hear The Holy Spirit
Text:- Philippians 4:13
One of the biggest questions you hear people asked most times is how do I hear the Holy Spirit? Most times we think it’s impossible, no it is possible, what you have to do is discipline yourself to hear from Him.
As a matter of fact, the Holy Spirit is always speaking. Below are 3 ways you can improve your ability to hear the Holy Spirit:
- You can hear the Holy Spirit through Concentration:
In order words when you focus on the Word of God. Jesus said “but if you abide in Me and My word abide in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be given to you. See John 15:7
When you concentrate on the Word of God, He speaks to you through it, He directs your thoughts as you go about your daily activities, He brings His Word to your mind when challenges come and tell you what to do.
How do you focus on the Word? Spend time on it, be diligent enough when reading the Bible and reflect on it every day. - You can hear the Holy Spirit when you listen to God’s People:
The Holy Spirit doe not just speak to only you, He also speak to God’s people. Sometimes those people would have received from Him, like when He spoke through the Apostles. He may use His people to share a message specifically for you.
So by listing to trusted faith Ministers, or maybe even spirit-lead friend, you can hear from the Holy Spirit. - You can hear the Holy Spirit when you listen in prayers:
If you never learn to be quiet, how can you hear when the Holy Spirit is speaking to your heart? So when you pray, spend time to praise Him for what He has done, ask Him for what you need.
Then get quiet, give Him a chance to speak. Remember prayer is a conversation between you and God. Remember while you are speaking, He is listening. Also be quiet when you stop speaking and listen while He speaks. Don’t run out immediately after praying to Him because God also loves to talk to you. See Psalm 100:4; Phillippians 4:13.
There are no magic hearing from God, just apply these simple methods listed above and see a change!
Prayer Point:- Oh Lord God, help me to listen to You henceforth, so as to hear You speaking to me, and thereby be obedient to You, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Happy Mid-Week!
