Wednesday 13th March 2019 Prayer Devotion
Scripture Reading:- 1 Peter 1:3-25
Topic:- God’s Unchanging And Infallible Word [1]
Text:- Psalm 119:89
The world in which we live is changing every day with its structures, values and patterns. We are constantly being confronted with new realities of living. See 1 Peter 1:25.
At such a time like this, every child of God needs to re-examine the foundation of his faith and hope in the Lord. The foundations are shaking and moving, the confidence of many people is shifting from what is spiritual, unchanging and infallible.
Men and women all around us are following the bubbles of life, building their spiritual houses upon shaky grounds. Many things are changing and many people are changing and that is why it is very important that we all come back to what remains unchanging.
The Word of God is unchanging because God Himself is unchanging. The Word of God is infallible because it is without error or falsehood. The Word of God is perfect because God Himself is perfect. See Psalm 119:89.
From the very foundation of the earth, the Word of God had been settled in heaven, even before any jot or little was written down. “Known unto God are all His works from the foundation of the earth”. It is therefore very important that you as a believer will know what you believe, why you believe and what is the basis, the foundation of the Word of God which you believe.
A. Other Names Given To The Word Of God. The Word of God is called variously by different names as follows:
1. It is referred to as, “The book of the Lord.” See Isaiah 34:1.
2. It is also called, “The law of God.” See Psalm 19:7.
3. It is called, “The Scriptures, or The Holy Scriptures.” See Luke 24:27; 2 Timothy 3:16.
The Word of God can be relied upon because it is unchanging and it is infallible, it remains from generation to generation because God says, “I am the Lord, I change not”. Therefore, His Word cannot change.
B. The Inspiration Of God’s Word – 2 Timothy 3:16-17:
1. Both the Old and the New Testaments are corporately referred to as Scripture. Greek scholars tell us that the phrase “Inspiration of God” mans in Greek, means “breathe-out”. It is given out to us just as God gave out His breath when He created Adam.
2. In the Septuagint Version – the Greek Version of the Old Testament, we are told that God made man out of the dust of the earth and He breathe into him and man became a living soul. That word, “He breathe into him” is the same Greek word which is used for “Inspiration of God”.
3. The Word of God is the Revelation of God:
a. It is not by the intuition of man. See 2 Peter 1:21-21.
b. It was not by the influence of civilized men or Philosophers. See John 14:26.
c. It was not by the insinuations of demons and devils. See Luke 24:25-27,44,45.
Prayer Points:-
1. Oh Lord God, Your Word is yea and amen, let Your Word dwell in me richly henceforth, in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. Oh Lord God, let Your Word dwell in me richly henceforth, so that I might prospered therein, in the name of Jesus Christ.
3. Oh Lord God, Your Word heals, delivers, saves and takes us to heaven, let Your Word manifest greatly in me to do all those henceforth, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Happy Mid-Week!
