Elijah Unselfish Spirit

Saturday 8th June 2019 Prayer Devotion

Scripture Reading:- 2 Kings 2:1-18

Topic:- Elijah, An Unselfish In Spirit

Text:- 2 Kings 2:9

Go ye to the world and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Christians are saved to save others. The power of Elijah is available only to those who possess the Spirit of God. Those who are not devoted or caring only for oneself, those who are concerned primarily with one’s own interests, benefit, welfare, regardless of others.
Prophet Elijah shared what he knew with his young associate. After testing the young Prophet in “effort” at Gilgal, Bethel and Jericho, the older man, though facing heavenly retirement, was nevertheless concerned for the efficiency of the young man Elisha.

He was not afraid that the young man, upon discovering the secret of his power, would outshine him. He knew that the work would be finished by younger, stronger men than he.
He evidently realized that his business was to make men, not break them. What a sense! Standing on the south bank of the river Jordan, the experienced Elijah made a last generous gesture.
He ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. This man knows that he was about to go on substantiation (Celestial). He is not zealous that his record as a soul winner, healer, Prophet be un-excelled. The great mission of his life has been to “make ready a people”. See 2 Kings 2:9.
Note at this point, there was apparently no premature urge on his part (Elisha) “Take over” in the meetings at Gil-gal, Bethel, and Jericho.

There is also no indication that he permitted his diploma from the School of Prophets to swell his head, making him scornful of the knowledge of the older man, gained in the school of experience.
There is almost an eagerness on the part of the young man to be a good learner. Consider his request “I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.” Elisha knew that the power of Elijah accompanies his spirit. See 2 Kings 2:9.
To the possessor of Elijah’s spirit the power is consequential. A power that withheld rain, parted rivers, healed the sick and brought reformation to a backslid-den people, for such whole creation stands in desperate need.
That this need will be met we are assured by an evangelical ministry fired with the passion to “make ready a people prepared for the Lord”. Do not be selfish or monopolize the gift of God in your life.

Prayer Points:-
1. I command you spirit of selfishness, come out of me by fire and never reappear again, in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. Oh Lord God, open my eye to the area which I am using the gift of God for self glory, and help me to change, in the name of Jesus Christ.
3. Oh Lord God, do not let me be stinking by keeping to myself what I need to share with others, in the name of Jesus Christ.
4. Oh Lord God, give me the grace to make men, not to break them henceforth by fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.
5. I refuse to die with potentials and glory that would have benefited others, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Have A Wonderful Saturday!

ALTAR CALL

If you want to give your life to Christ; you want your sins forgiven; you want to become a child of God; you want to experience the realities of new birth; you want to make heaven;

Or you were once saved and fell along the line, and now you want to rededicate your life to Christ…

Then pray this short prayer of Faith

Say it loud and mean it:

“Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you today. Forgive me my sins, wash me with your blood. I believe you died for me, on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Right now, I believe that my sins are forgiven; I’m justified by your blood; I’m born-again; I’m saved; I’m a child of God; I’m free from the power of sin to serve the living God. Thank you Jesus for receiving me; thank you Jesus for restoring me; thank you Jesus for saving me.

Thank God for your soul. I congratulate you for the best decision of your life. For further details on how to grow in this new light, please click the CONTACT page or visit TACN or any bible believing church near you and ask for the pastor in charge.
