Scripture Reading:- 1 Kings 18:41-46
Topic:- Elijah, Man Of Prayer
Text:- James 5:7-8
A. What is Prayer?
1. Prayer is simply an act of communing with the Creator of the universe. See Mark 11:24.
2. Prayer is an act of calling upon God to meet our legitimate needs and desires brought before Him in a holy, humble, reverent and scriptural manner. See 2 Chronicles 7:14.
3. Prayer is travailing in the closet in order to give birth to your spiritual baby. It is agonizing in order to usher in the dawn of a new era.
4. Prayer is bringing the adversary before the court of heaven.
5. Prayer is drawing life, power and fire from the very throne of God.

B. Seven Keys To Productive Prayer:
1. Pray with a vision and under the unction of the Holy Spirit.
2. Pray, lifting up holy hands without wrath and doubting. See 1 Timothy 2:8.
3. Carry your burden into your prayer and deal with it thoroughly.
4. Pray unselfishly, i.e you must be liberal enough to pray for others and God’s work in your prayer. See 1 Timothy 2:1-3.
5. Pay the price and get the goods delivered at your doorstep.
6. Pray, exalting God above your problems and see things through the eyes of faith.
7. Identify and pull down all satanic checkpoints mounted against your prayers, i.e. you defeat all anti-prayer demons dispatched to hinder your prayer or double-cross the delivering angel commissioned to bring your blessings. See Daniel 10:10-13.
In view of all these we can say that Elijah was a man of prayer. That was what made him to be a Man of God and Man of Fire.

For Example:
1. He called fire from heaven to consume two Captains and 100 soldiers.
2. He prayed that there should be no rain for 3½ years.
3. In an agonizing manner, by putting his face between his knees, he prayed for rain after the 3½ years had expired.
Conclusively, without intensive prayer, you cannot be a Man of God, Man of Fire.
