Ahaziah followed his father as king of Israel. Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria.
He was sick and wanted to inquire whether or not he would recover. Instead of inquiring of Jehovah, he sent messengers to Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, to inquire whether or not he would recover.
Elijah met the king’s messengers on the way and rebuked Ahaziah for sending to Baal-zebub to inquire. Elijah departed and sat on top of a hill. The messengers returned and reported the message to Ahaziah.
Consequently, he sent a Captain with fifty men ordering Elijah to come down from the top of the hill on which he sat. Elijah replied to the Captain’s orders by calling for fire from heaven to consume him and his fifty. Fire came and consumed them.
This Captain petitioned Elijah to spare his life and the lives of his men. Elijah received the Captain and sent the message back to Ahaziah. Ahaziah later died as the Lord had spoken through Elijah.
When Elijah departed earth, a legacy remained. Elisha, the Prophet, continued where he stopped. He received a double portion as a result of being present when Elijah departed.
At last, Elijah was standing alongside Moses with Jesus in their midst, the two conversing with Jesus. Jesus was about to experience the jeers of many, the pain of crucifixion. The three together, Moses, Elijah, and Jesus, represented fulfillment of the promise of salvation.
Moses symbolized the law. Elijah represented the Prophets, the restoration of all things. And we know that Jesus fulfilled the promise of salvation beautifully. These are a few attributes of the man we know as Elijah.
1. Oh Lord God prepared and make me, a sanctuary that is pure and holy, a living sacrifice for You, in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. Oh Lord God, make an earthly spiritual giant, and also heavenly candidate, in the name of Jesus Christ.
3. Oh Lord God, my fire must continually be burning and never to quench henceforth, in the name of Jesus Christ.
4. Oh Lord God, help me to conquer all battle before me and me victorious over all, in the name of Jesus Christ.
5. I command, I will make it in life and prosper, and be in good health till Jesus will take me home, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Have A Wonderful Saturday!
