Topic:- Don’t Get Bitter
Text:- Ephesians 4:31
Yeah. Because you can pray a thousand times about these; nothing will change. You know, God didn’t tell us to pray about malice in our lives, that will should tell him to take it away.
If you have hatred in your heart, or anger, or self-will or covetousness, bitterness, all these things, jealousy and pride; you can pray and pray; they’ll never go. Because the Bible doesn’t say to pray that God will take it away, no! He tells you to put them off. He says “put them off”! It’s your job, He didn’t say “pray them away”, He says “put them off”.
Now, you might be thinking, “I can’t do it”. That’s an accusation against God. You are saying that God is saying you should do something you couldn’t do. See, you can, if you will. Jesus has given you a new kind of life. When you are born again, you were born with the nature of God in your heart, you have the life of God in you. You have the love of God in your heart. You are a new creation; you are a new person.
These things are not in your spirit! They are called the works of the flesh. You shouldn’t have them. The Bible says, “if we walk in the Spirit, we shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh”. How do you walk in the Spirit? By walking in consistency with the Word of God, walking in the light. God’s Word is light, God’s Word is truth, God’s Word is light. So you walk in the light, the light of His Word.
Now remember, as a Christian, the Bible tells us that we should renew our minds. Have a new way of thinking. And the most important of all this is: let the love of Christ dominate you.
See. Let the love of Christ dominate you. Make a decision to walk in love, It’s a decision you make. Otherwise, these things will take you to hell.
See, they’ll take you to hell. Imagine these, why would you allow anger in your heart? Its towards someone else, why would you have hatred, hatred is towards someone else. Your self-will is actually self -worship. It means you exalt yourself above others and above God’s word.
Humility and love will cure these. And there’s covetousness, the Bible says if you trust God that He supplies everything that we ever require, we will not walk in covetousness. So walk in God’s word, believing that He gives you all things freely.
And there’s the bitterness, maybe because someone said something to you or against you, or acted ugly towards you and now you are bitter. Ask yourself, what does it really matter, no matter what they say to you or about you, no matter what they do to you, they can’t win. It doesn’t make any difference. Jesus Christ is the Lord of your life. He’s honored you, and if He’s honored you, no one can dishonor you; doesn’t matter how they try.
So why do you care? So don’t get bitter, you should never be bitter. And then jealousy, why on earth would be jealous? Why do you care? Your heavenly father has everything and He loves you. And you are unique, you are different. And he chose you, you are one of a kind. There’s no need to be jealous.
Finally; pride, pride of all things! You should never let that in your heart. Never! God has demonstrated the kind of life that you should have. He sent Jesus, who humbled himself unto death, even the death of the cross. The Bible says “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him”. So if you humble yourself, God will exalt you. No need to exalt yourself. You don’t need that at all. Humble yourself. The Bible says if you humble yourself therefore under the mighty hand of God, He will exalt you in due time.
If you meditate on the scriptures, the scriptures are able to make you wise unto salvation, meditate on the scriptures. When you hear the Word of God, receive it into your hearts. Don’t sit in Church and when the Pastor is preaching or teaching; and you are thinking and hoping that some other guy is hearing. Always receive the Word of God for yourself to change your life to get better and better.
Don’t hope someone else is hearing. Don’t hope the other guy is learning because of you, because he did something against you. Otherwise the pride will stop you from advancing. So reject all these things.
Prayer Points:-
1. I refuse to be bitter henceforth, help me oh Lord God, in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. I command all fleshy habit in my life, die by fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.
3. I command all godly character, begin to manifest in my life henceforth by fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.
