Sunday 8th September 2019 Prayer Devotion
Scripture Reading:- Matthew 7:1-12
Topic:- Christ’s Teaching On The Mount About The Kingdom [7]
Text:- Matthew 7:7
They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof. They are exalted for a little while, but are gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn. See Job 24:13, 24
That is what will happen to those cancerous or fibroid cells that are disturbing you. God has passed His judgement on them, but it is for you to enforce the judgement. And you enforce the judgement by confessing the judgement to their hearing from time to time and commanding those cells to obey.
Remember that such a cancerous cell is a stranger in your body because God did not create you with any cancerous cell in your body. Therefore you can command it to leave your body and it must obey you. When you give it a command because it is a stranger in your body; but it is only when it hears your voice that it will obey you and submit itself to your command. See Psalm 18:44-45.
That is one application of the principles of the Kingdom. We must preach, teach and emphasize the Kingdom of God and its righteousness and heal the sick.
The Church in this end-time must bring converts up not just to become members of the Church but Citizens of the Kingdom and kings so that they can know and claim their rights and privileges in the Kingdom.
There are so many benefits and privileges that accrue to citizens of the Kingdom. Let us look at just one, the case of your being made an ambassador of the Kingdom.
As an Ambassadors of the Kingdom on earth we are not even supposed to be sick, we are supposed to be health personified because the Scripture says as written in Proverbs 13:17.
Jesus had said that if we concentrate on seeking the Kingdom and its righteousness all the other things that we are currently concentrating on such as prosperity, success, blessing, position, healing, miracles, power, and deliverance will be given to us in addition.
As true ambassadors of the Kingdom our mission is to seek and study to understand, our mission is to preach and teach the principles of the Kingdom of Heaven and its righteousness, first and foremost.
The Teaching On A Prayer:
Prayer can be defined in two ways:
1. Talking to God.
2. Hearing from God.
Jesus said, Prayer is “Asking, Seeking and Receiving.” When you pray, you must wait to hear God and give room for Him to give you the answer. I dare say that this is one of the reasons why most prayers are unanswered. You need to give God room to talk back to you when you pray. Prayer is a two-way communication. Prayer is our route to God’s Presence.
What Then Is Prayer?
1. Prayer is the art of Asking and Receiving from God. Jesus said, “Ask and ye shall receive.” Therefore we can say that the asking and the receiving go together. See Matthew 7:7-9.
2. Prayer is also the art of seeking and finding what you want from God. When you have asked and the answer is not forthcoming you can go to this level of prayer. He has said that whosoever seeketh shall find. See Matthew 7:8
3. Prayer is also knocking the door and getting God to open the door. He has said that whosoever knocks, the door will be opened to him. See Matthew 7:8.
4. When you have asked and not received and you are eager to get the answer then you can start to seek perhaps the answer is veiled or concealed. But if you seek and still do not find the answer then you can conclude that it is locked up behind a door. Therefore you can go into the knocking stage of prayer and you are bound to get your answer at this stage.
5. Prayer is joining forces with God to combat all life’s issue by attacking and bringing to obedience all such issues. How to do this is explained for us in 2 Corinthians 10:4-6.
Prayer Point:- Oh Lord God, give unto me, grace, power, spirit and gift of prayer, and praying through henceforth by fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.
