Topic:- 7 Reasons Why Fire Came Down From Heaven
Text:- 1 Kings 18:38
God send down fire from heaven as Elijah requested and prayed. These will be discussed in seven ways why God had to send the heavenly fire down to consume the sacrifice that Elijah prepared:
1. Elijah knew God intimately. Daniel said, “The people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits, [Daniel 11:32b]. Elijah believed in this God, knew what He worth and what He God can do very well. He had revealed Himself to him many times, and therefore, he can authoritatively declared to king Ahab that, “As the Lord God of Israel live, before whom I stand.” Without fear, he boldly said that because he knew his God and his God knew him. See 1 Kings 17:1d,e.
2. Elijah was an holy man of God who always hears from God and do obeyed Him. He was the Prophet who trained Elisha who later possessed double of his spirit. Elisha became holy man of God because he learnt it from Elijah. See 2 Kings 4:9.
3. God wanted to honour Elijah to become a man of fire by answering his prayer. He had now become man of fire to the extent that he commanded fire to consume 102 Soldiers/Security men of king Ahaziah. See 1 Kings 18:1-16; 2 Kings 1:1-15.
4. He was on God’s side and fighting the battle of God. See 1 Kings 18:17-19.
5. Elijah knew that all other gods are fake god, but his own God is the Real and Genuine God. See 1 Kings 18:25-28.
6. Elijah was a prayerful man. No doubt about that, Elijah can pray heaven down. In the Epistle of [James 5:17-19], he prayed that heaven should not bring rain, and later, he prayed rain back. Why will it now be difficult for him to pray fire down from heaven? See 1 Kings 18:30-39
7. He had learned that ‘I’ Elijah was not to be seen but God’s alone, i.e. no any interior motive but that only God must be glorified, worshipped and served. See 1 Kings 18:39; 19:11-18.
Prayer Points:-
1. Oh Lord God, help me to be humble and never to be proud like Elijah of old, in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. Oh Lord God, help me to be a man of God and a man of fire henceforth, in the name of Jesus Christ.
3. I command any way-layer of my holiness and miracle, what are you waiting for, die by fire now, in the name of Jesus Christ.
