Scripture:- John 3:1-16
Topic:- 10 Ways Holy Spirit Empowers Christians [1]
Text:- Acts 2:38
The study of the Acts of the Apostles and their encounter with the Holy Spirit as Jesus ordered them (the Apostles) to wait in the upper room. And 1O ways He (Holy Spirit) empowers every Christian who yields to His leading.
“The Holy Spirit walks and also works in the mind of every Christian and causes them to have an unquenchable desire for God, and also brings the truth of God to their understanding.”
The Holy Spirit isn’t different from God, He is an awesome part of who God is exactly. And as a Christian, the Holy Spirit is needed in our lives for us to be able to be what God wants us to be and also fulfil divine mandate and this Spirit becomes an aid to us to overcome and come to the full point of God’s expectations for our lives. Without Him, we have no power in us!
A. Who Is The Holy Spirit:
- The first time we come in contact with the Holy Spirit is at that point where He convicts us of our sins, brings disapproval and unrest to our hearts and helps us know that no one can live up to Gods righteousness.
- He also goes ahead to reveal the end result of anyone who dies without receiving Jesus as Lord as Saviour. See John 16:8-11.
- When we are convicted and brought to the knowledge of God by receiving the gift of salvation, the Holy Spirit comes and revives our dead inner mind and makes it sensitive to the things of God. See John 3:1-16; Acts 2:38.
- There’s another things the Holy Spirit does in every believer, He baptizes them. And this baptism is available to all who believe. See Acts 2:1-4.
- He gives gifts of empowerment which helps every believer to live a life if Holiness. See Acts 2:39.
- The Holy Spirit becomes a helper to every believer and through his help, we as Christian are made into looking exactly like Jesus, and doing the Father’s will becomes our life style.
- The Holy Spirit goes ahead to grant us boldness and the zeal to be witnesses to the whole world. See Acts 1:8.
- The presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives also gives us strength when we feel weak, gives us courage when we feel discouraged and replenishes us on a daily basis. See Ephesians 5:18.
It isn’t fine to have the consciousness that The Father and the Son are the first while the Holy Spirit is second. They’re both equal and works together with each other.
The presence of the Holy Spirit in us makes us unique and special specie from God. As Jesus noted before His ascension into heaven that the Holy Spirit would come and dwell within us as one who believes. And with that, there’s an empowerment to live victoriously for the cause of Christ and glory to the Father.
B. The 1O Powerful Ways The Holy Spirit Empowers Every Believer Today: - The Holy Spirit Is a comforter to every believer:
“Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. See John 16:7.
When I remember the presence of the Holy Spirit in me, I see God dwelling in me, comforting me in all situations, empowering and helping me to live a victorious life that shows the exact image of God.
When you feel depressed, or tired or when you’re feeling as though you’re failing in life, you can always have this confidence in you that you’re never alone no matter how empty you may feel.
You can begin every day of your life knowing the Holy Spirit is there to comfort you for He is the strength in us that keeps, energizes and strengthens us on a Holy path. Never fail to allow him rule over you today! - The Holy Spirit helps our sanctification:
“And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. See 1 Corinthians 6:11.
“Sanctification” is a process by which a Christian believer is made holy through the action of the Holy Spirit. It is the purification from so and granting of growth into spiritual maturity to become more like Christ which is an important process every believer must go through.
Leaving behind the old man which is the devil and the works of the flesh and becoming a new man which is Christ and righteousness. Its a daily process that takes place once there is yieldedness!
Prayer Point:- Oh Lord God, I need the empowerment of Holy Spirit in my life more than before henceforth by fire, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Happy Mid-Week!
